Describe what you were doing at time of sighting
Was walking down an isolated road near the Owen/Carroll Co. (Owen Co.side) county line
Describe what you heard / found / saw
It was around 12:30 PM. I had just walked to the end of the road and was returning home. I was walkingnthrough a particularly isolated part of the road that goes through some extremely wooded hills and thennearest house is at least half a mile away. I had walked past an abandoned barn a few minutes beforenwhere two 'unfriendly' dogs live and both were either long gone or hiding. Once I started passing through the wooded area, I started hearing this loud, high-pitched shrieking and all of a sudden I heard a loud 'SPLASH!'in the nearby creek. The next thing I knew, something very big was running up the hill and through the weeds right at me. I didn't stop to look but started running as fast as I could since I thought it might be a coyote, wild dog, or something. I'd ran for almost a quarter of a mile when I stopped and could still hear the shrieking, which was on top of the hill whereas the 'thing'that chased me was at the bottom. It finally stopped, but I've never heard anything like it in this area before! It sounded a lot like the alien in the movie 'Predator,' only the shriek was more high-pitched. There was also an awful smell lingering in the area, but that might've been caused by fertilizer or sewage being dumped into the creek or natural chemicals (this area has a reputation for being smelly due to the presence of something like sulfur in the creeks).nIt's also worth mentioning that in Jan. 2001, I found sets of footprints that resembled human footprints but were much larger tracked in the snow in our yard. I followed the tracks and they went straight across the yard, down a hill and past a lake on a neighboring farm, and into the woods.
Describe the time of year and the environment
Warm and sunny. Around 12:30 pm walking down the road in a hilly, wooded environmentnw/ a somewhat large creek running by the road.
Have there been any other reports ro talk in your area
None that I'm aware of.
Additional comments
Even though it could've easily outran me and usually hunts at night, I'm still wondering if this might'venbeen a wild animal such as a bobcat??? I had also seen a coyote that was mysteriously dead in the creeknand smelled about 2-3 more up the road, so I wonder if some of the animals are dying from drinking thenwater? If so, this is not good for
